The third Annual Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival is finally upon us and we’re looking forward to another exciting weekend of phenomenal singer/songwriter showcases. Wrapped in the welcoming arms of the beautiful Texas Hill Country, the quaint downtown Historic District in Dripping Springs has proved to be the ideal backdrop for a songwriters festival.
This year our event will be held October 14-16, and will feature more than 30 shows a day – over 60 total – and every single one of the shows, with the exception of our ticketed Saturday night showcase, are absolutely free to the public. We have an incredible roster of local, national coast-to-coast and international songwriting talent coming again this year. Our audiences will enjoy a diverse spectrum of songs and styles and hear the inside stories behind the tunes as groups of songwriters play in-the-round, Nashville-style, at each of six intimate stages. Our stages are located at Dripping Springs’ favorite venues: The Barber Shop Bar, Mercer Street Dance Hall, Mazama Coffee Company, The Mercantile, The Sidecar Tasting Room and Hudson’s On Mercer – all within easy walking distance of each other and parking is plentiful. Shows at each of our performance stages will run continuously, all day and evening long, and will not require a wristband or an admission fee.
We are proud to announce that this year’s Saturday Night Headliner is two-time Grammy-winner, Rodney Crowell. Rodney’s songs have been covered and performed by an eminent group of musicians including Van Morrison, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Etta James, George Strait, Tim McGraw and Bob Seger. Crowell has also chalked up a number of chart-busting hits of own such as “I Couldn’t Leave You If I Tried,” “Stars on the Water” and “She’s Crazy for Leaving.” Back by popular demand, the supporting act for Saturday evening is local favorite, Drew Womack, who wrote Kenny Chesney’s first number one single, “She’s Got It All.” The Saturday night Headliner Showcase is a sold out show but the lucky ticket holders are in for an exciting and intimate evening of songs and stories. Showtime for the Headliner Showcase is 8:00pm on the South Point Hyundai Stage at the immensely popular Mercer Street Dance Hall.
